Altar Guild

Sacristy - altar implements laid outThe Altar Guild of Good Shepherd is a group of individuals committed to setting The Lord's Table. They are responsible for the Sacramental Elements of worship: the bread and wine, the vessels in which they are served, and the linens on the altar and in the chancel. They also work with the rector and verger on special church occasions such as baptisms, weddings, and funerals. There is a special sub-committee for weddings, and we are still looking for people to train for this special need.

The Altar Guild is organized into teams, with newer members assigned to train with those who have more experience. Each member is assigned to a team responsible for two months of the year. During those months, the team sets up before the Sunday service, cleans up after, and launders the linens. The team will also be responsible for any midweek communions. Silver is polished at the end of each month.

All team members assist with holidays such as Christmas and Easter.

Training meetings are held about four times a year, generally on a Saturday morning.
