Outreach
The Outreach Committee finds ways for Good Shepherd parishioners to take the Good News into our surrounding community, the city of Jacksonville and the world.
Outreach Ministries:
The Children's Enrichment Workshop, an outreach program Good Shepherd started in partnership with other neighborhood churches and public schools, provides school supplies, music lessons, and nourishment to elementary school students twice a week during the school term.
Each Sunday, food donations are collected for the St. Catherine’s Food Pantry.
We provide gifts to those less fortunate through a "Shepherd's Tree" at Christmas.
We sponsor a Boy Scout Troop (the oldest in the city)
We provide facilities for group meetings such as AA, NA, and the Hubbard House Anger Control Management.
The Chamber Music Society of Good Shepherd showcases local amateur and professional musicians in occasional classical music performances that are free to the public. Performances are held either in the church or in Worsham Hall.
The Riverside Fine Arts Association, founded by Good Shepherd and with its office at the church, brings world-class musicians to perform in the church throughout the year.
Each year during Lent we focus on the Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) and its efforts to alleviate poverty and suffering around the world.
Good Shepherd has a companion parish in our companion diocese of Cuba—The Church of the Anunciacion—in the town of Florida, Cuba, near Camaguey. We are planning ways in which this companion relationship might grow and flourish, both for their benefit and ours.
