St. Cecilia Choir
|
St. Cecilia, commemorated November 22nd of each year on her feast day, is the patron saint of musicians and Church music. As she was dying a martyr’s death, she sang to God, praising Him.
The members of the St. Cecilia Choir range in age from 3rd grade and above, a mixed choir of boys and girls. Choral demands on this group of choristers is greater than the St. Nicholas Choir, including a broader vocal range, slightly more difficult intervals, study of more than one vocal piece during rehearsal, and occasional opportunities for solo or duet work. The Chancel Choir will accompany the combined choirs of St. Cecilia and St. Nicholas for special musical offerings during the church year.
Choir rehearsals begin in September of each year, with the Choir presenting a musical offering with the St. Nicholas Choir the first Sunday of each month. All choirs participate in the music ministry during Advent and Easter.
