The education of the young in music is one of our primary goals. A solid education in serious music is invaluable in later life, and a productive, healthy, safe way for children to interact with one-another.
This education, however, goes beyond music. Music education instills discipline, fervor, and an appreciation for the arts – something not easily found today!
The Summer Choir Camp for Young Singers
To build relationships and inspire young singers and musicians
Good Shepherd hosts an annual Summer Choir Camp for Young Singers during the second week of August. During this week-long training course, children from the St. Nicholas and St. Cecilia choirs spend time singing, playing, and learning.
The camp, however, is not just for choristers at Good Shepherd. The camp is open to all children between the ages of 6 and 12 who are interested in singing.
Through various musical activities, children learn about basic musicianship, music theory, proper vocal technique, and the duties and privileges that go along with being a good chorister. Likewise, children learn about the church and our traditions.
Parents of interested children should contact Shannon Gallier, Organist-Choirmaster at 904-387-5691, ext. 11 or at sgallier@goodshepherd23.org. Space is limited so reservations are required. A small fee will be announced in advance of registration which begins in May.
